Can you have swine flu without running a fever?
I feel crappy with stomach pain, runny nose, headache, sore throat and some mild coughing.
Could it still be H1N1?
I got my seasonal flu shot weeks ago.
Hey Florida Girl,
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states swine flu symptoms can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue, and sometimes diarrhea and vomiting.
The runny nose and lack of fever would suggest the common cold. However, these are the most common symptoms, and the preclusion of one or more doesn’t mean you do or don’t have H1N1.
The only way to know for sure what you have is to go to your doctor and have him swab your nose and test the swab. Your primary care doc should have a kit right in the office which can tell you in about 15 minutes if you have the “flu” or not. This type of test will only tell you if you have Influenza A or not, but will not tell you the actual strain you have (like H1N1 – the “swine flu”).
If you do have the flu – swine or otherwise – you should take an antiviral medication within the first few days of symptoms for best results. The cheapest place I found was online at http://Tamiflu.info2here.com
Hope this helps and I hope you feel better!
Mudbone does Fever…Swine Flu Fever that is. Parody on Peggy Lee’s hit.
