Do i have a middle ear infection?
I’ve had this for a long time now. Sometime in March i got a cold and one day i woke up and one ear was blocked up and i couldn’t hear. I also hear a popping noise when i swallow, and pressure in my ear. It’s worse in one ear then the other, and it’s been like this since march. I have gone to the doctor about 3 times and to an ENT once, and they haven’t been able to find out what i have. I was put on allergy medicine but that didn’t work, i was given drops(i think earwax) and that didn’t work. I was also checked for fluid in the ear, but it said i don’t have any. But i went on webmd.com and used the symptom checker and i think i have a middle ear infection. Do i? And how do i tell my ENT to diagnose for it? I really want it gone its driving me crazy.
If you are experiencing these symptoms and your ENT is not receptive to your telling him……then it’s time to go shopping for a new doctor.
To me, it sounds like you have fluid …… with a blocked eustation tube. I doubt that you have an active infection since you have had these symptoms for some time. An active infection would cause severe pain and you would most likely have fever.
This sounds like fluid…….and if your ENT says it is not. then find another doctor.
Hope this helps and get well soon!
